Tucson Police said in a news release Wednesday that a 40-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning when the driver of an SUV veered into oncoming traffic.
Ashley Elaine McGee was driving westbound on East Old Vail Road near East Valencia Road around 8:45 a.m. when the Toyota Corolla she was driving swerved into her lane. The vehicle collided with an SUV that had veered off the road and was heading eastbound.
The driver of the SUV, a 27-year-old woman, drove a Toyota Sequoia across the center multi-use lane, into oncoming traffic and collided with a Corolla, according to the release.
Investigators said the driver of the Sequoia was impaired at the time of the crash. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators found drugs and paraphernalia on the driver of the Corolla, the statement said. The investigation continues and “possible felonies are pending toxicology reports and the driver's discharge from the hospital,” the statement said.
