PHOENIX—The son of a northern Arizona couple was arrested last week in connection with a murder last October, officials said.
Hunter Stanfield, 19, was admitted to Gila County Jail on March 14 and faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his parents. Gila County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
Authorities responded to a 911 call on October 27 and two people were found dead at their home in Whispering Pines, north of Payson.
Police found Chase Stanfield, 50, and Gail Stanfield, 39, dead.
Hunter Stanfield was taken into custody without incident.
“We are grateful to our detectives for working non-stop through this case to track down all leads and collect and evaluate evidence,” Sheriff J. Adam Shepard said in a release. “This is a time-consuming investigation and the detective’s dedication to community and justice should be applauded.”
The Gila County Attorney’s Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety contributed to the investigation into the case.
