Authorities say the driver of a white box truck has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a BNSF train in Yavapai County.
Seligman, Arizona – Two suspects have been arrested in a train robbery in Yavapai County, authorities said.
of Yavapai County The incident happened around midnight on Oct. 18 along nearby Interstate 40, the sheriff’s office said. seligmanwhen a BNSF train reported being robbed by a suspect in a white box truck.
Once deputies arrived on scene, the white box truck and another vehicle fled the area, heading west on Interstate 40. The deputy pursued the vehicle while awaiting backup.
“DPS and the Kingman Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect’s truck as it arrived in Kingman, but when the truck refused to yield, DPS deployed a stop bar to force the truck to stop.” said the sheriff’s office.
The driver of the box truck fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody. The driver of the second vehicle also arrested.
No suspect was identified.
“Train robberies have skyrocketed over the past year, resulting in millions of dollars worth of merchandise being stolen,” the sheriff’s office said. “YCSO will continue to work with our partners in law enforcement and the Railroad Administration to prevent these potentially dangerous crimes from occurring and apprehend the perpetrators.”
