2 dead, 3 hospitalized after teen driver crashes into brick wall and house in Yuma

Yuma, Arizona (AZFamily) Two people were killed and three were seriously injured in a crash in Yuma early Friday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., Yuma Police received a report of the crash. West of Interstate 8, 14th Street. Authorities say the 16-year-old driver was speeding and lost control, crashing into a brick wall, two parked cars and a home.

The driver and front seat passenger, an 18-year-old woman, died at the scene. The other three back seat passengers, a 13-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl, were rushed to Yuma Regional Medical Center, but the two 13-year-old boys sustained serious injuries and were later airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital.

Authorities say alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.
