2 dead following shooting involving reserve deputy at Prescott home: YCSO

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office officials said an investigation is underway following a fatal shooting in the Prescott area.

In a statement released Oct. 15, investigators said crews were called to the home. Wildwood Estates They went to the Prescott area early in the morning for reports of two people who had been shot.

“Tragically, both were pronounced dead from their injuries,” the statement read in part.

In a separate statement, investigators provided details leading up to the shooting.

“Initial investigation appears to indicate that the deceased husband may have shot and killed his estranged wife as she attempted to flee their home,” the updated statement reads in part. “A YCSO reserve deputy who lives nearby was forced to intervene by firing his weapon to deter further threats from the husband.”

The identities of the man and woman will not be released until next of kin is notified, officials said.

“Given the circumstances, the Sheriff’s Office requested the Department of Public Safety to oversee the investigation,” YCSO wrote.
