Maricopa, Arizona (AZFamily) — Two teens will be tried as adults for robbing and killing a teenager in Maricopa.
On Friday, Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller announced that 17-year-old Elliott Jackson and 15-year-old Isaiah Bandin were charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery.
“Teen violence is out of control and will not be tolerated in Pinal County,” Miller said in a statement. “I have directed my office to prosecute these two teens as adults and ensure that they receive punishments commensurate with their crimes. Teen Violence Case Receives a Slap on the Wrist I pray that the families of the victims will be able to rest in peace.”
On November 22, 2024, Maricopa Police were called to an unknown location to investigate a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive teen inside the vehicle and other teens running from the scene.
The county attorney’s office said three teens, including Jackson and Bandin, planned to rob the victim, who was described as a teenage e-cigarette seller. When the robbery “didn’t go as planned,” the teenage suspect allegedly shot and killed him as he sat in his car.
It’s unclear whether the third teenage suspect will be charged as an adult. The victim’s name has not been released.
