20 MCC Kingman campus students inducted to honor society | The Buzz -The buzz in Bullhead City – Lake Havasu City – Kingman – Arizona – California

MOHAVE COUNTY – MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society – The Alpha Chi Omega chapter on the Kingman campus hosted an induction ceremony for the Spring 2023 new members on Thursday.

20 new PTK members appointed: Faith Burson, Kirsten Bradley, Lisa Brambilla, Annie Coggins, Erin Dodge, Isaac Gale, Kelly Grubb, Melissa Hatchell, Michael Hiller, Rinne Hollinek, Emily Ivy, Miraya Jackson, Valalina Jose , Courtney Meadows, Naomi Oliva, Chris Patel, Cody Price, Lacey Robbins, Abby Seabee, Reese Woods.

Students are invited to attend Phi Theta Kappa if they have achieved a cumulative 3.5 GPA and earned 12 credits, or if they have attended a certificate program and earned 6 credits.

MCC President Dr. Stacey Crippenstein officially opened the ceremony by welcoming all new members and guests. He talked about the Honors Society, which has existed for over 100 years and is a prestigious organization that is a complex part of a two-year college.

Other MCC administrators included Executive Vice President Dr. Tim Culver and Vice President of Student and Community Engagement Dr. Tramaine Lauseau.

Cody Price, president and advocate of the Veterans Club, was the guest speaker and said the new members are the brightest people in Mojave County. He went on to say that they must always strive for excellence and the only way to do that is to go out and improve themselves.

PTK Advisor John Hansen said:

Before the newly minted members took their formal oaths, the PTK symbol was outlined.

“Atop the band is represented the head of Athena, a symbol of learning. At the base signifies the light, the light of knowledge and learning, the common ideals of the members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. You’ll see the Greek letters that do,” said Mandy Price.

Advisor Tubbs closed the ceremony after the inductees signed the record book, received white roses, and lit candles.

“We all want you to remember tonight’s special ceremony in the years to come.

The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage two-year undergraduate scholarships by providing leadership, service and development opportunities.
