2023 Spring All-Met: Girls’ Lacrosse first team, second team, honorable mention

The following student-athletes have been named to The Washington Post’s 2023 Women’s Lacrosse All-Met Team.

Hannah Rudolph, M, Jr., Good Counsel

After hitting 100 points in 2022, Rudolph improved his junior season with 86 goals, 44 assists, 111 draw control, 40 turnovers and 58 ground balls. She was named the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season and led the Falcons to their second straight WCAC championship. Before this year’s playoff matchup, good counsel coach Michael Haight reminded Rudolph that “pressure is a privilege.” High expectations are placed on her because of her immense talent. Rudolph has a year left before she terrorizes the WCAC before joining the Northwestern team that won her eighth national title.

Blair Byrne, M, Sr., Glenelg Country

Byrne tallied 64 goals and 22 assists to help the Dragons reach the semifinals of one of the toughest conferences in the nation, the Maryland Interhigh Athletic Association.

Rowan Clancy, Democrat, Sr., visits Georgetown

Michigan hit 45 ground balls and caused 30 turnovers, helping the Cubs to the Independent School League semifinals and the DC Athletic Association title.

Maisie Clevenger, M, Sr., Marriott’s Ridge

Despite the team’s early exit from the Maryland playoffs, Clevenger performed well. She has 48 goals, 31 assists and 58 draw control and will join her sister Eloise at the University of Maryland next year.

Alexis Dupchak, M, Senior, Broadneck

Dupac scored 41 goals and recorded 100 draw controls in his final season with the Bruins, winning his third straight Maryland 4A title in the program.

Alyssa Gore Chun A. Jr., Severna Park

Gore Chong exploded in his penultimate season with a single-season program-record 75 goals as the Falcons won the Maryland 3A title.

CC Jacobs, D, Sr., St. Stephen’s/St. John’s Agnes

Jacobs led a young Saints team to a championship game appearance in the Independent School League. The Oregon team had 87 draw control, caused 20 turnovers and picked up 28 ground balls.

Kaylan Jones, G, Sr., Dominion

A fourth-year starter committed to play at the University of Oregon, Jones broke his own single-season record for save percentage, stopping 61.8 percent of the shots he faced.

Lauren Lapointe, A, Sr., Glenelg

Lapointe finished his career with the Gladiators with 68 goals and 15 assists. She plans to play at the University of Maryland next year.

Anna Viglione, M, Sr., Paul VI

Arizona State finished the year with 60 goals, 20 assists and 271 draw controls. She helped the Panthers win the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association title for the first time in the program.

Corey White, M, Sr., Stone Ridge

White scored 44 goals and 30 assists as the Gators won their first Independent School League title. contract with the University of Virginia.

Alyeska E. Jenkins, M, Sr., Oakton

She had four goals and two assists in Oakton’s Class 6 title win. In a dominant performance, James Maddison finished the season with 92 goals and 15 assists.

The 2023 season turned out to be one of the most successful seasons in Panthers history. Hayden’s team defeated St. John’s in the semifinals to advance to their first WCAC title match since 2005. The coach said he watched the first games of both teams 30 to 40 times to prepare for the semi-final match. Paul VI also won his first VISAA title by defeating St Anne’s Belfield. Hayden and the coaching staff developed a new defensive game plan tailored to the opponent.
