YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Get ready to shake, rattle and roll Yuma County.
Scott Bruce and his band are back in town, bringing only the best music from the King of Rock and Roll.
The 21st Annual Rockin' Tribute to the King will be held on Friday, March 8th at the Yuma Civic Center.
This event raises money for Yuma County's Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
“Well, it's great to be a part of this organization and know that the money we raise at our benefit concerts will go to helping children in need of our help. That’s a very good thing,” said Scott Bruce, who has spent his career as an activist. Elvis performer. “So, coming back here every year, it feels really good to know that we're making a difference in the lives of so many young people, and that's the best feeling, and that you're helping others It’s about knowing that you’re helping.”
Bruce, who lives in Palm Springs, California, has a unique connection to Yuma, which is why he enjoys this event every year.
“I met my wife here. She worked as a nurse at Yuma Regional Medical Center,” Bruce said. “She was very active in CASA and came up with the idea of doing a concert to save money on programming and that was how it started. It was only meant to be for that one year, but she did it again the following year. 21 years later, here we are.”
The Yuma community has continued this event with enthusiasm every year. Brooke Adams, president of the Yuma Council of CASA Inc., said the event is a credit to how much the community cares about children who don't have basic necessities.
“You could really see the enthusiasm for the kids and Scott and his band and the next generation coming,” Adams said. “Last year, my grandma, her daughter, and her granddaughter came with us.”
The 21st Annual Rockin' Tribute to the King will be held at the Yuma Civic Center on Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m.
Advance tickets are $20, children 12 and under are $15, and tickets at the door are $25.
