Three passengers were injured when a laptop caught fire on an American Airlines flight on Friday after passengers panicked and evacuated, according to the New York Post.
Three passengers were evacuated and suffered minor injuries on an American Airlines flight at San Francisco International Airport after smoke from a laptop filled the cabin. The incident occurred around 12:15pm as passengers were boarding an Airbus A321 bound for Miami at the gate. according to In the New York Post.
FAA and American Airlines officials reported that the source of the smoke was a laptop in a passenger's bag. Crew members quickly removed the bag and the passenger was removed from the plane using an emergency slide, the media reported. One passenger described the situation to KRON 4.

“It all seemed hopeless until someone opened the middle door and we were all able to escape as we were trapped in the corridor. [were] “He suffered minor injuries,” one passenger told KRON 4.
The San Francisco Fire Department was called to the scene to extinguish a smoking laptop. Three passengers suffered minor injuries during the evacuation, and one was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, according to the San Francisco Fire Department and American Airlines. According to the New York Post, passengers were returned to the terminal after the accident and American Airlines apologized for the inconvenience, and the FAA has opened an investigation to further determine the cause of the accident.
