Officials on Tuesday released the names of the three people killed in a Mojave Valley house fire that occurred three weeks ago on Dec. 10.
The victim of the fatal fire has been identified as Alexander Galvez, 54. Janelle Norris, 53 years old. Melia Loftin, 20, was pregnant at the time of the fire, officials said.
Around 2 a.m. on Dec. 10, deputies were called to a fire at a home in the 2100 block of Lone Star Drive in Mojave Valley.
Officials said when they arrived they found the house “completely on fire” and observed fire in neighboring homes. Fire personnel quickly arrived and began extinguishing the fire, the report said.
Investigators say one of the occupants, an unidentified 20-year-old man, managed to escape during the fire and was later found by authorities. Officials said the man said his fiancee and parents were inside the home.
The man was then taken to Valley View Medical Center for his injuries. He was then taken to a Las Vegas hospital for further treatment, the report said.
After the fire was extinguished, investigators found the bodies of Galvez, Norris and Loftin inside the home, the report concluded. Police said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Just one week after that fire, another house fire occurred in the county's Bullhead City on December 16th, killing five children. Officials said a fire broke out on the first floor of a two-story home, possibly trapping the children in second-floor bedrooms, killing five children who were related to each other.
Police said there were no adults in the home at the time of the Bullhead City fire. Neighbors reportedly attempted a rescue operation and set up an extension ladder into the second-floor bedroom of the duplex. Police continue to investigate the cause of the Bullhead City fire.
