Tucson, Ariz. (13 News) – The US Customs and Border Patrol has awarded the company a more than $300 million contract to build a 27-mile border wall in Santa Cruz County.
Fisher Sand & Gravel Co. has won the contract for $309,463,000, funded with CBP’s 2021 funding.
The area is part of the Tucson sector, and the Department of Homeland Security says it is an area where many individuals and drugs have experienced and gained experience with many individuals and drugs that are illegally smuggled.
The announcement follows DHS Executive Director Kristi Noem’s approval of exemption from building border walls.
Secretary exemption authorities allow managers to ensure that DHS includes the National Environmental Policy Act – including the National Environmental Policy Act – ensure physical barriers and rapid construction of roads by minimizing the risk of administrative delays.
According to the company’s website, Fisher Industries was founded in North Dakota in 1952 and then expanded to Arizona in the mid-1990s.
The company currently has locations in North Dakota, Arizona (Tempe), Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, South Dakota and Wyoming.
