7-Eleven wants a big gulp of Maricopa business

Something red, orange and green is coming to Maricopa’s Main Street, but it’s not a traffic light. Or a bag of peppers. it is A 7-Eleven gas station and convenience store is proposed for John Wayne Parkway, according to documents obtained in a public records request yesterday.

Texas-based convenience store giant Known for Big Gulp Big Bites last week filed a preliminary application with the city’s planning department to build a 4,600-square-foot store, gas pumps and “automated service pad” on the southwest corner of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue. did.

Details such as when the city will review or approve the application and the construction schedule have not been made public.

In March, Superstar Car Wash expressed interest in building a store on land just south of the proposed 7-Eleven, but the business has not moved forward with construction or paperwork.

Currently, the closest 7-Eleven store to Maricopa is located 32 miles north at Kylen Road and Warner Road in Tempe.
