Kingman – Two seniors from Kingman High School joined five Lee Williams High School players in a boys and girls wrestling tournament in Arizona.
Kingman senior Darrick Ocampo will be out at 106 pounds. Ocampo went 25-9 on the season, placing him fourth in the men’s division. III, Section 1 Sectional. He will face Section 4 Champion Daniel Guerrero (21-3).
The men’s team of Lee Williams Volunteers placed four wrestlers in the Division III tournament, including junior Matthew Mazon, who finished second in the Section 1 section at 132 pounds. Mazon, who is 37-14, will face second-year Mitch Parrish, who placed fourth in Section 2.
Volunteer sophomore Patrick Panagapoulos, who finished the regular season with a 33-14 record and was third in Section 1, will face 21-5, 120-pound Section 3 runner-up JJ Webb.
Lee Williams Jr. Ethan Amy (ages 33-18, weighs 113 lbs) and sophomore Sean Seale (6-7, 138 lbs) each advanced to the tournament after placing 4th in Section 1. in the opening round.
Lee Williams wrestlers Ho Vargas, Jacob West, Julian Hughes and Bryndyn Holman were one win away from qualifying for the state tournament.
One athlete each from Kingman and Lee Williams made the Div field. Private Women’s Tournament.
Lady Volunteers sends second grader Navaeh Flemmons. Navaeh Flemmons won the Women’s Section D Championship at 120 pounds with her brilliant 33-4 record. Flemmons has a first round bye and she will face Section 3 junior Ruthann Ikelang (29-11), who received a first round bye, in the Round of 16.
The tournament will be held at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.
Kingman Sr. Jordan Geezy, who finished second in the Section D Qualifying Tournament, will also participate. Geesey is 16-5, also he’s 16-5, and his third-place qualifier in Section B, the senior, faces Stevi Carrasco.
