A 7-year-old Cochise County school boy was found Monday with two guns and ammunition in his backpack, according to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived, met with school officials, and learned that a second-grade student had been found with a gun and ammunition in his backpack. After examining his backpack, they found a second handgun.
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office did not identify the student or the school where the incident occurred.
The student’s parents have been contacted and a “juvenile referral” has been completed for a minor who was in possession of a firearm and an alleged weapon misconduct.
A similar incident occurred in Arizona this year. On Thursday, Queen had a gun seized from his senior year at his Creek Legacy Traditional school.
And in March, a 15-year-old teenager was arrested after bringing a gun to Bellard High School and having it confiscated by authorities.
