A golf tournament will be held at Lake Havasu Golf Club on Saturday, January 13th to kick off Lake Havasu City's annual Balloon Festival.
Check-in for the event begins at 7 a.m. and the tournament officially begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
“Everyone will be assigned a hole to start and everyone will start playing at the same time,” said golf tournament president Lisa Theophilas.
There will be a raffle, 50/50, and ball drop.
“We’re going to have some fun ball drops,” Theophilus said. “Tri-State Facilities will provide construction equipment to drop the balls into the holes. There will be cash prizes for first and second place, and prizes for longest putt, closest putt to the pin, and longest drive for both men and women. There is.”
Additionally, Anderson Powersports will donate a side-by-side as a hole-in-one prize on the 8th hole.
Theophilus said there are currently 20 teams of four people, with room for a few more. $100 per player, $80 for Lake Havasu Golf Club members.
“This includes donuts in the morning, golf cart, green fees and lunch afterwards,” Theophilus said.
The weather is expected to be sunny this Saturday, and Theophilus said he hopes it stays that way.
“We're really excited about this,” Theophilus said. “We're just praying for a day that won't rain, won't be cold, and won't be windy.”
All proceeds from the golf tournament will be donated to the overall Balloon Festival pot. Proceeds from the balloon festival will be distributed among his five service organizations: London Bridge Rotary Club, Sunrise Rotary Club, Lake Havasu Rotary Club, Lake Havasu Kiwanis, and Daybreakers Lions Club. Each service organization will distribute funds to nonprofit organizations of their choice.
