The incident occurred on May 27, during the busy weekend of Memorial Day in Havasu. Emergency responders were dispatched to London Bridge Beach around 2pm that day after the victim reportedly disappeared into the water while swimming with a group of older children.

Witnesses were performing CPR on the victim when Mojave County Boat Safety Officers arrived, according to the Mojave County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, believed to have been in the water for three to five minutes, was found and pulled ashore before police arrived.

The victim was taken from the scene to Havasu Regional Medical Center and then to a Las Vegas hospital for emergency treatment.
