Popular 1980s rock star Theo Lengyel of the band Mr. Bungle was arrested in California on Tuesday on suspicion of murdering his girlfriend.

of capitola police department confirmed Lengel's arrest in a statement posted on its Facebook page. “Theobald “Theo” Lengyel was arrested this morning in connection with the murder of Alice Herman,” they wrote. “As a result of the investigation, investigators were able to recover human remains in a wooded area within Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley.”

Herman, 61, was last seen in Santa Cruz, Calif., and had been missing since Dec. 3, the statement said, after relatives reported her missing after not being able to contact her for a week. Police also said that as the investigation into her disappearance progressed, “it became clear that foul play was involved, leading to the identification of Theobald Lengyel as a suspect.”

Investigators working on the case also noted that Lengyel appears to have driven from El Cerrito to Portland, Oregon, “in the days following her disappearance.” Both Lengel and Herman's cars were seized by police as part of the investigation, People magazine noted.

“Identification of the remains is pending DNA confirmation by the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office,” police said in a statement.

Fans may know Lengyel by his stage name “Milo Stone,” a nickname he used when he played keyboards, clarinet, and saxophone in Mr. Bungle.
