TV Host Urges GOP To Use ‘Wacko’ Zohran Mamdani As a Weapon Against Democrats In 2026

Republicans View Democratic Candidate as Campaign Asset

Charlie Hart, co-host of “Fox and Friends Weekend,” suggested on Wednesday that Republicans could leverage their Democratic opponent in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections, particularly focusing on his left-wing policy proposals.

The candidate, Mamdani, has been vocal about various progressive ideas, like the introduction of government-run grocery stores that would lead to increased taxes in predominantly white areas of New York. Hart believes that Mamdani’s far-left stance could overshadow other Democratic candidates nationwide.

Hart expressed concern about Mamdani’s potential as a mayoral figure in New York City, remarking that while it might not directly impact other regions, it does present challenges for Democrats who align with the more radical segments of their party. He pointed out that incidents such as crime or policy failures in places like New York could resonate politically across the country.

“All Republicans don’t have to focus solely on their opponents. They can target this candidate, which could be particularly effective for their campaigns,” Hart added, emphasizing the strategic advantage of using Mamdani’s platform for their messaging.

Mamdani secured the Democratic nomination for Mayor of New York City on June 24, defeating several candidates, including a past Democratic governor. In the meantime, Mayor Eric Adams is campaigning for reelection as an independent, while Republicans have chosen Curtis Sliwa as their candidate.

Additionally, Mamdani has faced criticism for his remarks regarding Israel, including a call to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his previous engagements related to the BDS movement.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson remarked to a news outlet that Mamdani’s primary win is beneficial for House Republicans, asserting that with the 2026 midterms approaching, the electorate will become more aware of the Democrats’ alignment with the far left. Johnson also suggested that Republicans are presenting a more sensible alternative to voters.
