Dragon Bravo Fire Update
The Dragon Bravo Fire is expanding on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, with over 94,000 acres affected. Unfortunately, containment has dropped to just 4% as the fire moves further north. Windy conditions are anticipated to intensify this Wednesday.
These historically dry and windy circumstances are really complicating efforts for the firefighting crews. The forecast suggests that conditions will remain dry, with sudden gusts likely throughout the weekend. So, it might get tougher before it gets better.
Currently, Kaibab Camper Village and Jacob Lake Inn and Gas Station are open, while the remainder of the forest is closed off. The Structural Protection Group continues to focus on protecting Kaibab Lodges and nearby structures.
The containment line can now be found on the southern edge of the fire, close to where the Grand Canyon Lodge was located before it burned down on the North Rim.
