Philip Pettus Announces Reelection Bid
Philip Pettus has declared his intention to run for reelection to the Alabama House of Representatives representing District 1.
According to a statement from Pettus, “Republicans dedicated to limited government, fiscal responsibility, and strong community values will enter the race with a solid track record and a bold vision for Alabama’s future.”
“I have fought on your behalf to safeguard your hard-earned money and uphold the conservative values vital for strengthening our nation,” Pettus mentioned. “While we take pride in our achievements, there is still work to be done, and we’re eager to continue serving the people of District 1.”
Pettus has led significant reforms aimed at protecting taxpayers during his time in Congress. He played a crucial role in reducing taxes for Alabama families, notably slashing state grocery taxes, marking the largest tax cut in the state’s history.
A staunch supporter of President Donald Trump’s initial agenda, Pettus aligns with the president on priorities such as border security, protecting American jobs, and prioritizing family. “I proudly back President Trump because he stands for the same principles I do,” Pettus said.
He emphasized the importance of infrastructure, advocating for investment in roads, bridges, and broadband, which have been vital in connecting and revitalizing Northern Alabama communities. “Our people are entitled to good roads, safe neighborhoods, and strong schools. They deserve a government that operates efficiently,” Pettus noted. “That’s what I’ve achieved, and that’s the fight I continue.”
Philip Pettus is a retired member of the Alabama State Army and has lived in Lauderdale County for many years. He has served in the Alabama House of Representatives since 2014. A graduate of Rogers High School and the Alabama State Trooper Academy, he identifies as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, holding a strong belief in faith, service, and family.
Pettus and his wife, Mary, are active members of the Christian Church of Killen.
