Gary Busey Admits Guilt in Sexual Assault Case

Gary Busey Pleads Guilty to Criminal Sexual Assault

Gary Busey recently pleaded guilty to criminal sexual assault, acknowledging in a virtual court session that he knowingly accosted a woman in New Jersey back in 2022.

“It wasn’t a coincidence,” the 80-year-old actor stated during the hearing. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss three additional charges of criminal sexual contact and one count of attempted criminal sexual contact as part of the plea deal. Busey appeared somewhat difficult to hear, and his attorney, Blair Zwillman, guided him through the proceedings.

The charges stem from incidents where Busey allegedly targeted five women while photographing them at the Monster Mania Convention in August 2022. Authorities claimed he groped two women’s buttocks and leaned into another woman’s space while she was about to put on a bra.

Throughout the hearing, Judge Gwendolyn Blue asked Busey several times to ensure he understood the legal implications of his guilty plea. Previously, he had denied the allegations against him. As reported, he now faces potential fines, probation lasting one to five years, and is required to provide DNA samples to authorities.

The judge has tentatively scheduled a virtual sentencing hearing for September 18th.

This incident marks yet another brush with the law for Busey, who has a history that includes drug charges following a serious cocaine overdose in 1995, as well as previous arrests for spousal abuse and allegations of sexually assaulting a female employee during the 2011 season of “Celebrity Apprentice.”
