The Alabama School of Healthcare Science (ASH) has named Kelly Augsburger Brasher as its inaugural Chief School Finance Officer (CSFO). Bringing more than two decades of experience in business and finance, Brasher steps into this newly created position at the residential high school.
For the last 11 years, she has been overseeing a budget close to $150 million annually at Auburn City Schools. Her skill set includes local school finance, capital projects, bidding regulations, purchasing programs, and management of fixed assets. The Auburn school system is known for its impressive performance, educating around 10,000 students across 14 campuses, ranking in the top 1% in Alabama by enrollment.
“Kelly’s extensive knowledge in school finance and accounting aligns perfectly with our needs,” noted President James “Jimmy” Martin.
Brasher, who just assumed her new position this week, expressed her appreciation for the opportunity.
“We’re eager to begin building this department from the ground up,” she mentioned. “It’s an honor to be involved in a project that will likely have a significant impact on communities throughout Alabama.”
With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Auburn University, Brasher is also accredited in local school financial management and sourcing by the Alabama Association of Business Professionals. Additionally, she plays an active role in her community, serving as a founding board member and secretary for the Auburn Thunder Football Club.
Currently, the school administration is gearing up for the planned opening in fall 2026. ASH aims to alleviate the shortage of trained health professionals in Alabama, focusing particularly on under-resourced rural areas.
With this appointment, President Martin has now finalized his initial leadership team.
