Montgomery will hold the 2027 Diamond Youth Baseball World Series.

Montgomery to Host 2027 DYB Baseball World Series

Montgomery has been chosen to host the 2027 Diamond Youth Baseball Division I and II “A” World Series, marking the return of this notable youth baseball tournament to the capital for the first time since 1988.

After a competitive bidding process, Montgomery emerged victorious against four other cities during the voting that took place on August 2 at the 2025 DYB World Series in Columbia, South Carolina. The proposal was put forth by Craig Howard, the National Sports Manager for the Montgomery Experience, along with Billy Taylor, the athletics director for the city’s parks and recreation department.

The tournament will run from July 22 to 27 and is set to feature 48 teams comprised of 6U and 8U players from 11 Southeastern states, which will include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia, along with a host team from Montgomery.

“Montgomery is thrilled to welcome the 2027 DYB World Series and the upcoming generation of athletes to our city,” stated Mayor Stephen L. Reed. “This tournament embodies our values—youth development, collaboration at the local level, and economic opportunities. We can’t wait to show families from the Southeast our hospitality, passion for sports, and community pride that make Montgomery a great destination both on and off the field.”

The event is expected to generate over 2,500 room nights in visitor spending, creating a total economic impact of nearly $6 million, and will draw more than 3,000 visitors, including players, families, coaches, and fans from the region.

Montgomery has a long history with DYB, dating back to the organization’s founding in 1955. The city continues its partnership with DYB to offer quality recreational baseball opportunities for local youth.

“We are thrilled to return to Montgomery, Alabama for the 2027 DYB 6U & 8U World Series,” said DYB Commissioner William Wade. “The city has always been welcoming, and the support from local leaders and the community is exceptional. We’re looking forward to yet another fantastic tournament experience. Thanks to the Montgomery City Council and its citizens for their commitment to this event.”

The investment Montgomery has made in athletic facilities, parks, and family-oriented programs has positioned the city as an excellent host.

“Pursuing the 2027 DYB World Series underscores Montgomery’s status as a prime location for youth sports,” commented a representative. “This event not only showcases outstanding sports facilities and community support but also reinforces the vital role tourism plays in our local economy. We are privileged to host players, families, and fans from the Southeast.”

Preparations for the 2027 DYB World Series are already in process. The City of Montgomery plans to collaborate with Experience Montgomery and DYB to guarantee a successful and memorable tournament for everyone involved.
