Ken Paxton States ‘Beto Bribes’ Are No Longer Assisting Texas Democrats Who Left

Texas AG Ken Paxton Wins Legal Battle Against Beto O’Rourke

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton celebrated a legal win on Friday, successfully obtaining a court order against what he referred to as “Beto Bribes.” This followed an investigation he launched regarding Robert “Beto” O’Rourke’s group, which Paxton accused of abandoning Texas and attempting to fund illegal activities surrounding this situation. He took to social media to share that a Texas District Court had granted him a temporary restraining order against O’Rourke shortly after the state initiated a lawsuit.

In his announcement, Paxton expressed, “I just defeated Beto O’Rourke in the courthouse. We have secured a big victory that will stop the runaway Democrats from stealing the ‘Beto bribes’ and preventing deceptive fundraising.” He made it clear that the ruling would pause any illegal funding or expenses as the lawsuit proceeds.

Furthermore, Paxton criticized O’Rourke for allegedly engaging in a “misleading financial impact scheme,” which he claimed directed donor funds toward personal expenses of fleeing Democrats, rather than genuine political endeavors.

The lawsuit contends that O’Rourke and his organization intentionally obscured the distinction between political donations and personal support, directing funds towards a partisan fundraising platform while using the money for purposes not allowed under Texas law.

In addition to this funding issue, Paxton has also filed another lawsuit with the Texas Supreme Court, arguing that certain responsibilities were overlooked, which aims to declare 13 absentee seats as open. He has begun investigating a group believed to be funded by George Soros and is also addressing a quorum break, while seeking to enact an unpaid arrest warrant for Illinois lawmakers.

Paxton stated, “Any Democrat who takes Beto’s bribe and breaks the law will be accountable. Texas is not for sale. We look forward to thoroughly reviewing all documents and communications obtained through this investigation. These runaway politicians have already lost public trust by abandoning our state, and we deserve to know if any illegal bribery has occurred.”

Paxton is also looking to challenge Republican Senator John Cornyn in the GOP primaries, which has been characterized as a contentious match-up. Although Paxton is leading in early polling, Cornyn has substantial outside support, even as he has yet to receive an endorsement from former President Donald Trump.
