Ted Budd Supports Andy Barr in Kentucky Senate Race to Succeed Mitch McConnell

Sen. Ted Budd Backs Andy Barr for Senate Seat

Senator Ted Budd from North Carolina has endorsed Republican Representative Andy Barr of Kentucky as a candidate to succeed Mitch McConnell in the Senate.

Barr is in the race against businessman Nate Morris and former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron for the Republican nomination. In a statement provided to the Daily Call News Foundation, Budd praised Barr for his commitment to what he termed the “American First Gender” initiative, asserting that Barr would align closely with President Trump if elected to the Senate.

“Andy is a strong conservative like me and will advocate for our borders and America’s national security,” Budd remarked. “He embodies our values, stands for the Second Amendment, and is a vocal opponent of allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports.”

Budd further added, “Kentucky couldn’t send anyone better to the U.S. Senate than my friend Andy Barr. I fully support him in this campaign.”

In response, Barr expressed gratitude for Budd’s support, stating that he is excited to collaborate on enhancing the economy and addressing issues like wasteful spending and border security.

Budd has garnered the president’s backing, especially after a tough race in 2022 against Democratic candidate Cheri Beasley, during which he remained loyal to the president’s agenda.

This endorsement follows support from notable Republican figures including Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and New York Representative Elise Stefanik. Women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines has also endorsed Barr’s Senate campaign.

Barr’s fundraising efforts have reportedly exceeded $1.4 million, bringing his campaign total to around $6.1 million, aided by the Prover Super PAC, Keep America Great PAC, which has raised significant funds this year.

The primary race is competitive, with each candidate vying for Trump’s endorsement, particularly concerning key legislation he signed into law. Additionally, Morris, another contender, has been associated with past support for former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and has made a commitment to diversity as a CEO.

It’s worth noting that Morris has received endorsements from various prominent figures within the Republican Party as his campaign gains momentum. Meanwhile, Cameron has found it challenging to raise funds after entering the race following the announcement of McConnell’s retirement.
