Franklin County Sui Cafe Stival
My favorite fruit of summer is taking the spotlight at the upcoming Franklin County Sui Cafe Stival on August 15th-16th. This delightful festival features not just free watermelon samples, but also a variety of activities including arts and crafts, watermelon contests, car and truck shows, 5K races, a fun mile run, food vendors, kid-friendly activities, games, and music. Best of all, admission is free!
Friday, August 15th:
- 6pm – Festival kicks off.
- 6:30pm – Opening Ceremony with the National Anthem performed by Kim Kronto, plus free watermelon slices.
- 7pm – Performance by Music City Misfit.
- 8:30pm – Austinbo Hannon takes the stage.
- 10pm – End of the day’s festivities.
Saturday, August 16th:
- 7am to noon – Car and truck show.
- 7:30am – Watermelon 5K starts (followed by a fun mile run).
- 10am – Festival resumes.
- 10am to noon – Character guest appearances in front of Valley State Bank.
- 11am to 1pm – Watermelon Contest at Russellville First Baptist Church Park with free watermelon slices available.
- 6pm – More free watermelon slices.
- 6pm – Midnighter performance.
- 7pm – Dixie Mafia takes the stage.
- 8:30pm – Wilmoseley performs.
- 10pm – Festival concludes.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival introduces “The Wizard of Oz”

The 27th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival is set for August 18-24 in Birmingham’s historic theatre district.
