A New Type of Liberal Appears in DC

There seems to be a new wave of activists hitting the streets lately.

To everyone tuning in…

Street Lawyer

It appears the only actual lawyer among them might just be unemployed.

This individual, dubbed the “sandwichman”—you know, reminiscent of “tankman”—was seen visibly intoxicated as he encountered some police patrols in D.C. He immediately erupted in anger, shouting “fascists” and “shame” at the officers.

He followed them, confronting them directly, and the situation escalated as he wandered onto subway tracks after one of the trains had passed.

In no time, they chased him down and arrested him, but that wasn’t the end of it. It turns out he’s actually a lawyer, working for the Criminal Division of the Justice Department, though he was dismissed shortly thereafter.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg regarding the somewhat absurd protests against Trump’s legal actions in D.C.

Are you surprised to learn that some of the folks leading these protests have their own criminal issues?

Take Darrell Gaston from the “Free DC” Advisory Committee—he’s facing several charges related to violent behavior and even pleaded guilty to one of them. The other directors of “Free DC” aren’t exactly clean either, with a history of trouble.

Still, difficult to fathom, right?

A Washington Post journalist shared a video over the weekend, capturing someone filming police while, well, a “moped driver” was being held. Quite the bizarre scene.

“The officers didn’t disclose which agency they were with,” the reporter noted, adding that he saw pedestrians loudly questioning the officers about their affiliations.

“Could you inform me about your agency?” he asked, clearly struggling after taking a hit to the head.

As noted in the Politico Playbook:

People from the crowd began to call out, demanding the officers specify which agency they represented. One officer sharply responded, “Do I have to answer you?” to which a bystander replied, “You should answer someone!” In the end, the officers did not identify themselves or provide any badge numbers, and took the moped rider away in an unmarked SUV, while nearby brunch patrons remained completely unfazed.

What a sight, right?

It’s amusing yet troubling to think that some who partake in these protests can just return to their meals feeling morally superior while doing absolutely nothing impactful.

The White House Press Secretary, Caroline Leavitt, mentioned that the video showcasing the incident went viral.

She stated that the “moped driver” was an illegal immigrant from Venezuela with alleged ties to criminal gangs. His arrest resulted in chaos as he resisted, resulting in injuries to law enforcement as well.

I’m not one to take government statements at face value, so perhaps he’s just an innocent rider caught up in a system that’s easy to manipulate, but the narrative offered is concerning regarding immigration policies.

Did anyone among the brunch crowd at the Washington Post or Politico consider asking pertinent questions about this situation?

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Of course not. This so-called #Resistance is just empty, moral showmanship for those who feel good while doing little. The D.C. crowd, sipping $5 coffee, indulges in sharing outrage without substance.

Asking an officer for their badge number has become a new symbolic gesture for those unwilling to acknowledge their losses in politics and culture. But the truth? A more transparent approach to security will take care of you, whether you like it or not.

My suggestion? Just sit quietly and enjoy your brunch.

I’ve got things under control.
