Tucson (KVOA) — House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Arizona State Representative Juan Ciscomani traveled to the US-Mexico border to see firsthand how the border crisis is affecting Arizona.
House Speaker McCarthy told News 4 Tucson that immigrants wear these shoes to cover their tracks. They also wear camouflage to blend in with the landscape.
This will be the first time Speaker of the House McCarthy will visit the border in his new position. He blames the Sinaloa Cartel for the fentanyl crisis.
“People no longer need to come to Washington, D.C. to talk to the government. .
House Speaker McCarthy was accompanied by freshman Republican representatives from states hit hard by the fentanyl crisis, including Virginia and Oregon.
Rep. Juan Ciscomani plans to save Pima County from having to pay an additional $1,000,000 in taxi fares to transport asylum seekers.
“Today I heard the exact same concern from county supervisors: Why do counties and municipalities pay for what the federal government should do? We have to settle for the cost,” said Ciscomani.
Ciscomani also added that we are working on a variety of solutions to address the fentanyl crisis in our community.
