Gregg Jarrett Speculates on DOJ’s Ability to Follow Protocol with Bolton

DOJ’s Interest in John Bolton’s Case Intensifies

Legal analyst Greg Jarrett discussed the ongoing investigation into former national security adviser John Bolton during a segment on “Hannity” on Friday. Jarrett expressed confidence that the Department of Justice (DOJ) would proceed methodically in any potential case against Bolton.

On Friday morning, the FBI executed search warrants at locations in Bethesda, Maryland, including one linked to Bolton. Host Charlie Hart inquired about the safeguarding of Bolton’s rights throughout this process. Jarrett reassured viewers, saying he trusts Attorney General Pam Bondi to ensure legal compliance. He noted that this isn’t entirely new territory; the FBI and DOJ were already looking into Bolton back in 2020, suggesting that recent actions may simply be a continuation of that inquiry.

Bolton, who served as national security adviser under President Donald Trump, has faced scrutiny concerning the handling of classified documents from 2020. Since his resignation, Bolton has been openly critical of Trump and published a book titled “The Room That Happened,” which has faced allegations of containing classified information. During its pre-release phase, the National Security Council had been reviewing its content, yet Bolton chose to allow the publication to proceed.

Jarrett mentioned the possibility of a grand jury already being in play, but he emphasized that this doesn’t automatically guarantee charges against Bolton. He characterized Bolton as a polarizing figure with a reputation for attracting conflicts, which may create legal risks if he crossed certain lines.

The legal analyst pointed out that if Bolton used classified material in his book or stored sensitive documents at his residence, he could face serious charges, regardless of having a security clearance. Even with such clearance, removing documents from secure facilities and placing them at home poses legal challenges.

Sources informed Daily Caller editor Vince Coglianese that the FBI’s recent actions are linked to Bolton’s previous investigation relating to alleged mishandling of classified materials for political gain. The FBI also conducted searches at a location on M Street in Washington, D.C., adding to the scrutiny surrounding Bolton.
