Shooting at Minneapolis Catholic School Claims Lives

In a tragic incident at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, two young students, aged 8 and 10, lost their lives, and 17 others were injured due to a shooting.

The shooter, identified as 23-year-old Robert “Robin” Westman, reportedly executed the act during a morning mass. This attack marked a grim beginning to the school year.

Authorities, including the FBI, are investigating the shooting as a potential act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime directed at Catholics.

In the wake of this devastating event, Alabama officials have expressed their condolences, offering thoughts and prayers to those affected by the violence at the school.

Governor Kay Ivey has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until the weekend, adding, “Our nation is deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life, and we stand together in offering prayers to the victims and their families.”

President Donald Trump has also issued a statement, directing that flags nationwide be lowered to honor the victims of this senseless attack.

U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) noted that the victims and their families are in her thoughts, emphasizing the importance of supporting the community during such a difficult time.

Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has also shared his prayers for those impacted by the shooting.

Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), who is running for a position in the U.S. Senate, described the event as “terrifying.” He shared his sentiments for the victims and their families as well.

In a formal declaration, President Trump has honored the victims of the Minneapolis shooting.

Prior to the attack, Westman, who identified as transgender, had posted concerning messages online that included threats and aggressive statements. He ultimately took his own life at the scene. It’s worth noting that his mother had worked at the school but is now retired.
