“I’m Committed to This and Won’t Back Down”: Tom Homan Discusses His Plans for Abrego Garcia

Illegal Immigrant to Be Deported Despite Legal Challenges

On Wednesday, Tom Homan discussed on Fox News’ “Hannity” the case of Kilmer Armando Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant facing deportation. Homan confirmed that, despite efforts to keep him in the U.S., Abrego Garcia will be deported.

Initially, the Trump administration intended to send him to Uganda. However, a ruling by U.S. District Judge Paula Sinis has halted this, requiring him to remain in custody while awaiting an evidence hearing. During the segment, Sean Hannity questioned Homan about the safety of holding illegal immigrants in the U.S.

“He is a serious public safety threat,” Homan asserted. “He’s a gang member deemed a terrorist and has been excluded by two federal judges. His charges include human trafficking and alien smuggling. Simply put, he’s a bad guy. I assure you, he will be deported from this country.”

Homan emphasized that Abrego Garcia had overstayed the requisite time to seek asylum. “The law is clear about asylum seekers,” he noted. “What evidence does he provide that he would face persecution due to his race, religion, or political beliefs? There’s no evidence, so if the judge applies the law, he should be gone.”

Since March, Abrego Garcia has received support from Democrats following his deportation to a facility in El Salvador under the Trump administration. A document released in April by the Justice Department indicated that local law enforcement had evidence linking him to the MS-13 gang as far back as 2019.

His wife has defended him, but by June, she had leveled accusations against him prior to his first deportation. This led to Abrego Garcia being brought back to the U.S. to face charges related to human smuggling.

Following his release from jail in Tennessee, he was taken into custody by federal immigration authorities early Monday. The administration is considering deporting him to Africa or Central America, but Sinis temporarily stopped this process. Federal officials mentioned, “at this point, this will be absolutely banned and exclude Abrego Garcia from the continent.”

Lawyers representing Abrego Garcia have stated that the Trump administration sought to have him plead guilty to human smuggling charges, aiming for deportation to Uganda, and has offered options for illegal immigrants to be sent to Costa Rica.
