Push for Epstein Files Transparency Act
On Wednesday, US Representative Thomas Massey (R-KY) and Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA) held a press conference on Capitol Hill with several survivors of Jeffrey Epstein, calling for the complete release of the Epstein Files from the Department of Justice. They have also introduced a discharge petition that could compel a vote, provided two more Republican lawmakers add their signatures. The proposed Epstein Files Transparency Act requests Attorney General Pam Bondi to disclose all DOJ files related to Epstein.
“The perpetrators are protected because they’re rich, powerful, and connected to the political establishment here in Washington, DC,” Massey stated during the conference.
All Congressional Democrats have joined the petition so far, but only four Republicans have signed on. Besides Massey, other Republican supporters include Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Nancy Mace (R-SC), and Lauren Boebert (R-CO), making them the only ones advocating for the petition to gather the required signatures to force a vote.
Case Dixon, a Republican candidate for Congress in Alabama’s Sixth District, is encouraging his incumbent opponent, Gary Palmer (R-AL), to add his name to the petition as well.
“This is not a partisan issue. It’s a moral issue,” Dixon emphasized in a press release. “The victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse have been denied justice for far too long. While Congress delays, powerful predators are shielded, and survivors are silenced. Money and influence should not exempt anyone from facing the law.”
Dixon noted that his motivation to act came from the harrowing stories shared by the victims during the press conference. “Hearing directly from these survivors makes it painfully clear that Congress can’t continue to hide behind politics and excuses,” he said. “These survivors deserve the truth and closure. The time for action is now.”
“As a father of two young daughters, I find it disheartening that my party’s members seem more concerned about backlash from the GOP establishment,” he added. “If I were representing Alabama’s District 6, I wouldn’t hesitate to sign this petition. Rep. Palmer needs to put aside political optics and do what’s right. Justice is more important than protecting influential people.”
Dixon isn’t shy about scrutinizing President Trump as well, especially regarding concerns over the Epstein Files. Critics wonder if Trump, who had a friendship with Epstein, might be connected to the undisclosed information. “The president is mistaken on this issue,” Dixon remarked. “Dismissing Epstein’s situation as a hoax downplays real crimes. Republicans should act as the voice of reason, not as obstacles.”
Dixon concluded with a poignant question for Palmer: “He needs to decide—will he side with the victims or with a powerful individual?”
