Maryland Woman Whose Husband Was Killed Says She Backs Trump’s Deployment of the National Guard to Don Lemon

Maryland Woman Discusses Crime with Don Lemon

A Maryland woman, whose husband was murdered, spoke to former CNN host Don Lemon during a live stream in Baltimore. She mentioned that President Trump is considering sending the National Guard to tackle crime in the city, which he characterized as “out of control.”

The crime, a carjacking, happened right outside her house two years ago. She expressed her feelings in a candid chat on Lemon’s YouTube channel, explaining how her husband’s murder was never solved. “It was brutal,” she recalled. “They shot him in the head, and he died instantly… yet our mayor didn’t take any action.”

Lemon asked her why she believed bringing in the National Guard would help. She responded, “I think it could make a difference,” highlighting her frustration with the lack of progress in addressing crime since her husband’s death.

Currently, crime figures in Baltimore are alarming, with 91 murders and over 200 non-fatal shootings reported in just this year. Governor Wes Moore, a Democrat, has been hesitant about deploying the National Guard for crime control in the area. Meanwhile, Trump had previously sent the National Guard to Washington, D.C., and attributed a notable drop in carjackings there to this decision.

Following this federal response, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser expressed gratitude for the additional law enforcement during a press conference, underscoring the decline in crime rates in the city. Recently, 92 arrests were made in D.C., some linked to violent crimes.

Trump has also suggested the possibility of deploying the National Guard to Chicago to combat escalating violence.
