Johnson’s Bold Claims on Trump and Epstein
House Speaker Mike Johnson made a surprising statement on Friday, asserting that he acted as an FBI informant to assist President Donald Trump in his efforts against Jeffrey Epstein.
This claim emerged as Johnson defended Trump’s recent characterization of the Epstein narrative as “a hoax.” In his remarks to a Capitol journalist, Johnson contended that Trump was not trivializing Epstein’s offenses, but rather dismissing the Democrats’ attempts to connect him with unethical lenders.
“He was an FBI informant trying to defeat something like this,” Johnson stated. “The president knows and has deep sympathy for these indescribably harmed women, which he can hate,” he added. It’s worth noting there’s been no official indication that Trump collaborated with the FBI regarding Epstein, and the White House has yet to respond to Johnson’s remarks.
Johnson’s assertions came shortly after Trump expressed his desire to concentrate on “the greatness of our country” instead of the “Epstein hoax.” Johnson interpreted Trump’s comments as an indication that Democrats were leveraging the situation for political gain.
He also highlighted that Trump removed Epstein from Mar-a-Lago upon hearing allegations about his conduct. Meanwhile, legislators have been urging the full disclosure of Justice Department files related to Epstein, who passed away in prison in 2019. They’ve called for a press conference featuring 10 of Epstein’s victims to push Congress for a vote on the legislation requiring document releases.
As pressure mounts from both political sides, Johnson is being urged to facilitate floor voting on the Transparency Bill. Attorney General Pam Bondy purportedly informed Trump that his name would appear numerous times in the documents connected to Epstein, though the administration maintains that no client list exists.
