Susie Wiles Shares Her Message to White House Staff Following Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

White House Encourages Family Connections After Kirk’s Assassination

Susie Wills, the White House Chief of Staff, spoke with Salem Radio Network host Scott Jennings on Thursday, sharing her message to staff following the assassination of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk. This tragic event occurred during a question-and-answer session at the TPUSA “Proof Me Wrong” event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

During their conversation, Wills advised that, in a meeting prior to leaving that day, she urged everyone to go home, embrace their loved ones, and stay vigilant. “I called everyone last night before I got home and said, ‘Please go home, hold your child, hold your spouse, take precautions, don’t soften your voice,” Wills relayed to Jennings, emphasizing that Kirk would have wanted people to remain vocal about their beliefs.

Wills further expressed the collective sadness felt in light of Kirk’s contributions to the campaign, noting the profound impact of his work.

In recognition of Kirk’s legacy, President Donald Trump announced that the flag will be flown at half-staff by Sunday, September 14th, in honor of him. Additionally, during a speech at the Pentagon commemorating the 9/11 anniversary, Trump stated that Kirk would posthumously receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Kirk founded TPUSA, a conservative organization aimed at high school and university students, back in June 2012. He also hosted “The Charlie Kirk Show,” which evolved into a radio program on the Salem Radio Network.

In a tense moment, House Democrats reportedly denied Kirk the opportunity to pray following the news of the shooting, leading to an outburst from Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna in response to Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Beaubert’s demands.
