New Surveillance Footage Released in Assassination Case
On Thursday, law enforcement unveiled new surveillance footage as they continue to investigate the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, at Utah Valley University. The FBI held a press conference to discuss the enhanced video, seeking assistance from the public to identify the suspect.
FBI Commissioner Beau Mason reviewed the footage with reporters, highlighting distinctive features that could aid in the identification process. “I noticed a unique T-shirt featuring an American flag with an eagle, along with a triangular baseball cap and sunglasses,” he stated.
Mason emphasized that the video is crucial for tracking the suspect’s movements, particularly in locating the firearm in the wooded area following the initial evidence discovery.
Additionally, the FBI released images of individuals of interest related to the case. Agents from the Salt Lake City Field Office shared photos of a man dressed in dark clothing, accompanied by a baseball cap and sunglasses. They encouraged the public to submit any tips via a digital portal.
Charlie Kirk, aged 31, was shot on Wednesday while engaging with students at an outdoor campus event. Authorities noted that the gunfire originated from a rooftop approximately 200 yards away. Investigators discovered ammunition in a nearby wooded area, but it’s not yet confirmed if it’s linked to the suspect.
