Winslow man sentenced for making threats to FMC

Threat Investigation at Flagstaff Medical Center

On August 29th, Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC) alerted the Flagstaff Police after receiving an email that hinted at a potential active threat.

Authorities identified Tristan Long, a 23-year-old from Winslow, as a possible sender of these threatening emails, especially since he had recently applied for a job at FMC.

Long’s vehicles were registered and tracked using the Flock Safety Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) system. On September 5th, one of his vehicles was spotted entering the city, leading to a prolonged and safe detention.

Upon investigating, police discovered multiple boxes containing loaded rifle magazines and ammunition in his car.

Long was then taken to the Flagstaff Police Station for questioning by criminal investigators. Following the interview, he was booked into the Coconino County Jail on charges of intimidation.

The Flagstaff Police Department noted that the automated license plate reader technology was crucial in maintaining public safety throughout this investigation.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information relevant to the case to reach out to Silent Witness at 928-774-1414 or 928-774-6111.
