Host Clarifies Jimmy Kimmel Did Not Claim Charlie Kirk’s Assassin Was Associated with MAGA

Late-night Show Host Suspended After Controversial Comments

Boris Sanchez, the host of “CNN News Central,” suggested on Thursday that Jimmy Kimmel, the late-night talk show host, claimed the assassin of Charlie Kirk, the Turning Point USA founder, supports former President Donald Trump.

Kimmel was suspended by ABC on Wednesday following comments made about Kirk’s assassination on September 10. This action came after Nexstar and Sinclair Broadcast, Kimmel’s broadcasting partners, announced they would temporarily pull “Jimmy Kimmel Live” from their lineup. Sanchez mentioned that he attempted to engage with Kimmel during the discussion.

According to Sanchez, Kimmel implied that the assassination pointed to something occurring on the political left rather than the right. He added that Kimmel’s remarks didn’t clearly indicate that the alleged shooter was affiliated with any particular ideology.

“It’s relevant to note that ABC’s decision came a few days post-broadcast,” Sanchez noted. “This came just after the FCC Chair hinted at potentially revoking ABC’s broadcast licenses and following statements from Nexstar and Sinclair about not airing Kimmel’s show.”

Kimmel’s suspension followed his comments on various social media platforms where he seemed to condone Kirk’s assassination. He stated, “We hit a new low over the weekend, and the so-called MAGA crowd is trying to portray the person behind this as anything but one of their own to gain political leverage.”

Meanwhile, Utah Republican Spencer Cox shared details uncovered during the manhunt for Tyler Robinson, who is alleged to have fired the shot that wounded Kirk. Reports indicated that Robinson had left-wing ideologies, which were reflected in slogans found etched onto the ammunition in his rifle.

The Federal Communications Commission has yet to comment on this matter.
