Gutfeld Critiques Harris’ Memoir and 2024 Running Mate Choices
Greg Gutfeld from Fox recently expressed strong opinions regarding former Vice President Kamala Harris and her upcoming memoir “107 Days.” During a segment on his show, he commented on her choice not to select Pete Buttigieg as her 2024 running mate, suggesting it was deemed “too risky” for a Black woman to partner with someone from the LGBTQ+ community.
Harris’ memoir reveals her thoughts on the dynamics of choosing a running mate, as noted in a report by The Atlantic. In a reaction, Fox’s Jesse Watters chimed in, expressing enthusiasm for the story. Gutfeld, however, seemed perplexed by Harris’ rationale: “She said she wanted a gay guy, but that wasn’t actually why she made her choice. It’s just frustrating when people claim they almost did something difficult. Credibility comes from taking those risks,” he said.
He continued, “I had my own considerations; I thought about choosing Mayor Pete too, yet didn’t.” Gutfeld went on to ponder what would have happened if Kamala had felt differently about Buttigieg and how that might have influenced her decision-making process.
In her memoir, Harris shared that from a purely hypothetical standpoint, if she were a “straight white person,” Buttigieg would have been her ideal pick. However, she acknowledged that asking America to accept a Black woman, especially one married to a Jewish man, posed a significant challenge, saying, “Knowing what is at stake, it was too risky.”
After former President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, he endorsed Harris as the Democratic candidate, leading her to select Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. This choice followed considerable speculation that other candidates, including Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, were also in the running.
It’s worth noting that Biden, during the 2020 presidential race, made history by appointing the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, while also emphasizing diversity in his administration, stating, “If elected, my Cabinet would reflect our nation, and I promise to appoint individuals who represent that diversity.”
