Callie Hutchison is the director of the Cochise County Youth Orchestra. She adds that the group will have 25 of her students performing on Saturday, and that it’s important to provide a safe space for young people to create.

Youth Arts Festival coordinator Genmarie Zereznak also said the event will have a make-and-take craft booth, with projects that you can make and take home during the event.

Jay Hamwright, chief professional officer of the Boys and Girls Club of Sierra Vista, said the club will host a Lego booth and encourage children to participate in photography and art competitions.

“So we publish some of the artwork and have some of the community vote on some of the projects we have,” said Hamwright. “Because we choose the winners to send to regional competitions of boys and girls clubs across the country.”

Zereznak says it’s important to encourage the creativity of young people in the community.
