YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) – Heavy gusts of wind, more chance of precipitation and cooler temperatures as a strong weather system arrives today Wednesday.

A gale warning is in effect until 4:00 pm PST on Wednesday, with strong westerly winds of 35 to 45 mph and gusts of up to 65 to 75 mph expected in Imperial County.

A Gale Advisory is in effect for gusts of 50 to 60 mph in Yuma County through Wednesday, 5:00 PM MST, with strong southwest winds of 30 to 40 mph.

See below for persistent winds tonight/tomorrow morning.

Please be careful as dust and sand may fly up, making it difficult to drive, and flying objects and debris may scatter.

Air quality warnings are in place for both Yuma and Imperial counties through tomorrow due to increased particulate matter from dust spray.

In addition to winds, a few days of showers are likely from Thursday night through Sunday.

Cooler-than-normal temperatures will continue from tomorrow through the rest of the week.
