PHOENIX – Kingman-based touring senior softball team wins first tournament since graduating to bracket play at age 60. KSS-Taco Bell won the Gold Glove qualifier held at Rose He Mofford Park in Phoenix on Sunday, February 19.

KSS-Taco Bell got off to a slow start, losing 14-7 to Cross-Eyed Crickets in the first seeding game on Saturday. Coach Roy Heisner said the bats were explosive the rest of the way as KSS-Taco Bell scored 138 runs in their next five games to beat the Desperados 24–15 for the championship.

Heisner said the 39 runs scored in the semi-final win over hammer time was the most runs in the 12-year history of the KSS-Taco Bell. exploded for 17 runs with two outs eight years ago against Hammer Time.

Heisner said his best offensive tournament to date was backed by a strong defense.

“We had so many double plays,” Heisner said.

According to the scorebook, not a single KSS-Taco Bell hitter has batted below .500 in a six-game tournament. Four players have passed the .800 batting average.

KSS travels to Mesquite, Nevada next month for the Spring World Championships.
