A 56-year-old Wisconsin man died while hiking in the Grand Canyon National Park, park officials said Tuesday.
The National Park Service says: news release He was found on the Bright Angel Trail. The Bright Angel Trail is he one of the most popular hiking trails to the Grand Canyon because of its scenery. Authorities said the man was from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, and was attempting a day hike up and down the Colorado River. An investigation into the incident is ongoing by the Parks Department and coroner’s office in Coconino County, Arizona.

The hiker’s death is the same as another 56-year-old hiker died Saturday in Texas’ Big Bend National Park.of park service said They received a call about an unnamed person experiencing chest pain. According to the Parks Service, a friend of the hiker attempted CPR on him, and with the help of bystanders and park volunteers, continued until rangers arrived, but eventually died.
Rick Gupman, acting deputy manager of the park, said in a statement that staff and partners were “sad by this loss.”
“All of our park families send their condolences to the hiker’s family and friends,” Gupman said.
