15 Republicans on Commission hear from local witnesses about border crisis
Yuma, Arizona (KECY, KYMA) – Yuma plays a central role at Thursday’s National Immigration Conference.
Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee Holding field hearings at city halls focusing on border issuescalling it the “Biden Border Crisis: Part II.”
The public hearing will begin at 2:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

The town’s legislators include Arizona representatives Andy Biggs and Paul Gosser, Ohio commission chair Jim Jordan, and Florida’s Matt Gates.
The House Judiciary Committee has its second hearing on borders this month, with the first held on February 1 in DC.
The first hearing included Democrats on the committee. Republicans have excluded them from plans to visit Yuma with them.
Chairman Jordan notified the Commission of the border visit at the first border hearing on 1 February.
Democrats say they are planning their own border area hearings in March.
Yuma County Superintendent Jonathan Lines will be a “witness” at the hearing and will be questioned by lawmakers.
“Finding out what the challenges are specifically and how to address them is the mission of fact-finding,” Lines said.
Local crossings at the border are down from last year, but still remain at historic highs.
Acting Border Patrol Captain of the Yuma Sector. tweeted last week that more than 2,500 migrants, including more than 70 unaccompanied minors, were arrested at the border.
