Safford Police were dispatched to Block 400 of Relation Street yesterday evening following reports of a small child walking alone on the sidewalk. Unaccompanied children were reported at approximately 8:00 PM. The reporter took the child and awaited the arrival of the police.
Upon arrival, officers took the child into custody and began searching door to door for parents or guardians. About an hour later, police located the child’s whereabouts. Investigators learned that the child was left at the babysitter’s house while the parent went to work. The child was about two years old and unharmed, according to the Safford Police Department Facebook page.
The case is under investigation and the report will be forwarded to the Graham County Attorney’s Office and the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
