Below are statements made at the Pinal County Supervisors Conference on March 1.
Most recently, we witnessed the unraveling of the propaganda campaign within Fox News and the propaganda spewed by former Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovic.
The “Big Lie” propaganda campaign that has created an unprecedented level of mistrust in our voting system. A campaign that has cost us all.
Disbelief I’ve heard expressed at this board of oversight. We call for the removal of voter registration rolls, the replacement of ballot counting systems, and the deprecation of mail-in ballots. Distrust sown by all citizens and challenged leaders of the Grand Old Party.
Thankfully, a majority of Democrats, independents, and principled Republicans outside of Pinal County voted to believe in our system, electing truth-telling believers and practitioners to office.
Truth tellers like new Attorney General Chris Mays, who just days ago released a previously undisclosed AG investigative report that investigators “found no crime or fraud” in the 2020 election.
Nonetheless, despite the conclusions of that investigation, advocates of the “big lie” within the Republican-controlled Congress have found “serious vulnerabilities” involving signature verification and transport of ballots from ballot box locations. Based on the unfounded premise of “sex”, we are pushing for so-called electoral reform.
Mr. Chairman, I agree with Attorney General Mays that the people of Arizona have a right to know before the 2022 election that the “big lie” allegations of fraud are baseless. And that the AG office and all of us, including all elected officials in Pinal County, have a solemn obligation to admit these lies as we begin a new election season.
I am an optimist and challenge all county officials to disseminate AG’s findings among county voters in their efforts to restore confidence in the Pinal County election.
Reducing action is keeping the “big lie” alive.
