Arizona water-related deaths are being reported days after heavy storms

Days after a storm brought heavy rains to much of Arizona, officials are still dealing with water-related deaths, and with more weather to come, Maricopa County Sheriff officials said an 81-year-old man had died. He said he died Saturday morning after he reportedly fell from his kayak on the Salt River in Mesa.

Drownings were reported, so delegates were called to the Pebble Beach area of ​​the river. Other kayakers on the river pulled him up and gave him first aid, but the Lake Patrol said he died at the scene. The man has not yet been identified, according to sheriff officials.

A family who were also kayaking on the Salt River needed to be rescued by emergency crews late Saturday after their kayak capsized. The family clung to bushes and trees and floated, but officials say they were all airlifted to safety.
