MUDFEST 3.2.23: HACKBERRY ROAD (SIRI, ALEXA AND NAVIGATIONAL MALFUCTION CHALLENGE RESULTS) | The Buzz -The buzz in Bullhead City – Lake Havasu City – Kingman – Arizona – California

It’s been several weeks (3/2) since Mud Fest 3.2.23 happened, but posting the first results among Siri, Alexa, and other artificial intelligence navigation aids stands alone I’ve found it can be helpful for those who are still making decisions. Based on this technology! Well, the pictures probably tell more than the writing about the situation, but in short, most of these disabled vehicles are the result of ‘alternate routes’ suggested by artificial intelligence navigation technology. The suggestions were apparently all right for the actual route (roads do exist and are passable for most vehicles when they are dry), but “Mother Nature” said she was on dirt roads. I couldn’t understand the impact. A combination of melted snow, melted ice, and runoff from storm rainwater. After portions of Interstate 40 closed, many drivers trusted artificial intelligence devices and made decisions based on their suggestions. What these drivers didn’t know was that this decision was the beginning of a chain of events that would significantly complicate their plans.

The day before (March 1), a major storm hit the area, closing many roads in Mojave County and other counties east of here (which is actually quite common during the winter months). is). Unwittingly, the driver’s inability of its artificial intelligence counterpart to consider the capabilities of the vehicle he is driving, the current weather conditions (and proposed road impacts), and the actual driver’s own ability to navigate. didn’t know Hazards and the amount of supplies that may be carried in the vehicle (excess water, blankets, jackets, food, cell phone chargers, etc.). Then they take a detour… into mud, snow, ice, flooded roads… until they can’t go anymore.

Join Search and Rescue (along with the Mohave County Roads Department and many good Samaritans). The day after the storm (March 2), especially on Hackberry Road between Highway 93 (I-40) and Route 66 (near Hackberry), help was provided for Mojave County Sheriff’s Office motorists. I was inundated with calls asking for Sedans, SUVs, minivans, trucks, semis, trailers, RVs, they all had bad nights and bad days. Some of them had a plan, but were very upset that their artificial intelligence device gave them poor information! It completely blocked movement. Some vehicles (and crew) have been there since the previous day. A search party cleared the entire road to make sure no one was missing and brought anyone who wanted to go back to town. Some wanted to stay in their cars, but there was no time frame as to how long they were there. was done, but between the amount of mud and the extent to which the vehicle became one with it, no success was achieved and it was postponed until road conditions froze. Within days, all vehicles had passed through the area and Hackberry Road was open again.

Technology is great, we certainly use it in many rescues, but heed the advice and look around when you go ahead. If you come across something (such as mud or waterlogged roads), it’s a good idea to turn around. rest assured!
