To keep residents safe, the town of Chino Valley closed the overflow site East Perkinsville Road after rapidly moving water engulfed Perkinsville Road. The water is deeper than it looks, the track bed is unstable, and the water flows quickly.
Recent storms have produced more water than the system can handle. As a result, the city of Prescott’s initiating discharges from Lake Watson and Willow are due to recent heavy rains and thaw.
Perkinsville Road will remain closed until it is determined the safety threat has passed. Unfortunately, the time frame has not been determined. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
Residents affected by the closure residing in Yavapai County beyond the Perkinsville Road overflow area are encouraged to contact Yavapai County Emergency Management. They can be contacted at 928-442-5103 (Call Center), by calling the Yavapai County Emergency Management Office at 928-771-3321, or by emailing: web.EM@yavapaiaz.gov.
WARNING: Do not remove barricades or attempt to cross overflow areas
